Jacket review: Shift Ranger Shell
Shift Ranger Shell (now superseded by Ranger jacket 70106, £40)
Miles covered/time: 3000/four years.
What’s good? It’s simplicity itself. You can either ram it into your rucksack, tie it round you waist (it packs down into a small pack that zips up, and comes with straps to connect round the waist) or, if it’s looking a big gloomy out, wear it from the off.
- Save money on motorcycle jackets
What’s more, it does what it’s supposed to – keeps the rain out. Who’d have thought it, hey?
It slips on easily over anything (even leathers with a speed hump) thanks to two side zips and a large opening for the head.
What’s not? Not much, if truth be told. The only niggling concern with it after 3000 miles of use is that it sometimes has a tendency to ‘ride up’ at the sides.
But nothing to ruin your day or let water in, as it has an elasticated bottom seam.
