Review: Keis X4 heated bodywarmer

Keis X4 heated bodywarmer, £99 (heat controller £30, battery pack/charger £46)
Miles covered/time:
20,000/two winters

What’s good? I can’t believe I’ve lasted so long riding through winter without heated clothing, and this jacket is perfect as it works from its own battery which means you don’t have to plug it into your bike.

I’m constantly riding different bikes, which means wiring heated clothing into every bike would be a pain.

The battery lasts between four and eight hours depending on the heat settings.

Each wintry night I remove the battery pack and plug it into the mains so it’s fully charged for the two-hour ride to work.

The jacket is so versatile I’ve not only used it on the bike but take it surfing with me, too – it’s perfect for warming you up after a winter surf in the North Sea.

What’s not? The battery life could do with being a little longer. On full blast it lasts around four to five hours, which I suppose is enough for most.

However, sometimes I spend a full eight-hour day on the bike in winter testing. Also the battery life seems to be dropping the older it gets.
