Jacket review: Alpinestars Venture Off Road

Alpinestars Venture Off Road Jacket, £119.95
Miles covered/time:
3750/four years

What's good? If you want a handy, tough off-road riding jacket to take the cold off, store some cash, a Mars bar, a spare set of goggles and stop you getting ripped apart by thorns then it's bang on the money.

It's packed full of zipped-up vents to allow your own cooling system depending on how active you're riding and how cold it is.

If it gets too warm then you can zip off the sleeves but still have all the practicality of a jacket to bung all your day's essentials.

There's loads of adjustment in the arms, giving plenty of room to wear it over armour and it truly is versatile enough to wear in blazing 30 degree heat or  winter trail riding. As long as it doesn't rain.

What's not? Let's get one thing straight. If you want a waterproof enduro jacket this is not it, as proven by two days riding in solid rain in Africa.

But then it's not claimed to be waterproof and a waterproof version will cost you much more.
