What’s good? There are two things which push my buttons when it comes to this top.
Firstly, its flat seams make it a pleasure to pull on, with not a hint of discomfort on the move. Secondly, it’s a damned good alternative to a thermal lining in your riding jacket.
I unzipped the liner of my cordura jacket a few years ago when it got too hot. It was lost in a house move not long after.
Rather than buy a new liner, I plumped for something that was more versatile and thinner. However, this keeps me warmer than the old quilted liner ever did!
For massively cold and windy conditions, I use a different top (see right), and alternate between the two depending on the weather.
What’s not? When bent over, the zip can pucker at the stomach, giving the impression of middle-aged spread or immaculate conception.
