Roland Sands Clash jacket review (£540)
What’s good about the Roland Sands Clash jacket?
This stunning jacket has to be one of the most stylish on the market. Every time I’m pictured wearing it in MCN I get emails asking where it’s from and how much it costs. I love the offset zip and retro styling. Aside from the styling the leather quality is top-level as the hide feels lovely, so soft. There a satin polyester lining and even the press-studs have an embossed RSD logo to complete the lovely detailing. The fit is perfect for me - no bulges or saggy bits and it doesn’t stretch halfway up my back like some jackets once I’m on the bike. There are pockets for shoulder, elbow and back armour that is an optional extra. I simply love this jacket, which is perfect for the bike or just wearing casually.
And what’s not?
The quality is beyond doubt, however I’d still like body armour to come with a jacket costing this much. Some riders won’t want the armour, which seems to frequently be the case in California where the jacket was designed. There is riveted reinforcement at the elbows and the jacket is designed for the retro/cruiser market but personally I’d prefer the protection as standard.
