Reviewed: Tucano urbano Diluvio waterproof jacket and trousers
Time used: Six months/6000 miles
What’s good? These have kept me dry on numerous big-mile cross-continental trips, commuting and MCN test riding. They have the reassuring durability and protection of heavy-duty waterproofs, but they’re not clumsy or flappy. They fold up into a small, easy to carry bundle and they’re lined for comfort.
The jacket has a warm velvety collar lining, combined zip/button fasteners and inner and outer pockets. The jacket and trousers are nicely fitted, so they don’t blow up like a balloon as you’re riding.
What’s not? I originally tested these in a medium, which were perfect for my spindly six-foot frame, but the sleeves were too short (and the jacket zip broke). Tucano suggested a large when they replaced it to take care of the zip, but the sleeves are still too short. The cuffs won’t go over the top of gloves, so on some bikes (mainly sports) my gloves fill up with water in the rain. The trousers could do with longer legs, too.
Price: £44.99 for the jacket and £41.99 for the trousers
