What’s good? With the chilly weather drawing in again I’ve dug this adventure kit out of the cupboard. They’re not cheap but not stupidly expensive (you can spend up to £1500 on a pukka enduro jacket alone) and I’ve worn it in lots of different conditions, on and off-road.

I’ve splashed through the rain during the Triumph Explorer launch in Portugal, sweated my way up and down Mount Etna in Sicily on a Ducati Multistrada Enduro and pummelled the A1 on cold days on my ZX-10R. Both jacket and trousers are supremely comfortable, fit nicely with boots and gloves and have a luxurious feeling of quality about them.

They’re multi-layered, so they can be as warm or cool as you want, plus there are extra vents and flaps to let the breeze in when you get really hot off-road. Even in heavy rain the Drystar construction has kept me dry. They have more pockets and waterproof compartments than you know what to do with, as well as CE-certified shoulder, elbow and knee armour, along with tear and abrasion-resistant panels in impact areas to protect you in a fall.

What’s not? If I’m being picky, the zips and poppers that fix all the layers together are a bit fiddly and it’s easy to pull some of the sleeve lining out when you extricate your arms, but that aside, it’s quality kit.
