This Held suit has been accompanying me throughout the Great British summertime and has so far seen me through 3000 miles of some (very) wet and dry weather. It’s not cheap, but you pay for the quality.
This Held suit is a serious bit of kit, it features a removable GoreTex layer that can be worn both in or outside the suit and has kept me dry, even in torrential British weather. The fact that the layer is removable also means that the suit doesn’t get too clammy on warmer days and, combined with fantastic ventilation at the front zip, chest, arms and legs, make it is a brilliant option to use whatever the weather in the British summertime. The GoreTex layer can be used as an additional waterproof layer for other riding gear too, and has saved me from a proper soaking on more than one occasion when I’ve been caught out when riding in leathers. The additional option to use the clip-in Thermo and Windblocker layers also mean that it should be perfect for four-season riding too, though I haven’t tried these yet. There is CE-approved armor at the knees, elbows and shoulders and a pocket for a back protector.
At nearly £1000 for the suit, it isn’t cheap. Some will also argue that the jacket and trousers should feature a thermal lining as standard, and the additional £270 for the Thermo and Windblocker layers will leave some feeling a bit salty. However, this does keep the overall price down on a Rukka equivalent, especially if the suit will only ever be used in the summertime, giving the option to upgrade depending on riding seasons.
