Product review: Alpinestars Oscar Charlie Tech-Air jacket
I've been using my Alpinestars Oscar Charlie Tech-Air jacket for six months, covering 2500 miles.
Soft, smooth-finish full grain leather, un-burstable stitching and reassuring press-studs, give this retro-style, airbag-ready jacket a sturdy and luxurious feel. The body section is longer than a regular biking jacket and the neck higher, to keep out the drafts - cuffs are longer, too, so you can only wear thin-wristed gloves underneath.
A thermally insulated, removable flannel liner provides warmth on bitter British winter days. It comes with shoulder and elbow armour and I sometimes use an additional £999.99 Tech-Air Vest Airbag System, which plugs in and zips inside the jacket, activating the traffic light LEDs on the arm.

It’s the same air bag vest I use in my racing suit and I transfer between the two, but I have to plug it into a computer to change it from road to race settings. The charge lasts for days, but the vest adds a fair bit of weight and a little bit of bulk. The only issue I’ve had is snapping the main zip tab, after an over enthusiastic tug one day…
