Luggage review: Held Scotty tank bag

1 of 1

Held Scotty tank bag, £74.99
Miles covered/time:
2400/two years

What’s good? Designed for short sloping trail bike tanks, the Held Scotty is small (4-7 litres) but packs some genuinely useful rather than gimmicky features.

The highlight has to be the mounting system. A large Velcro panel attaches under the seat and runs up onto the tank like a big fluffy tank pad.

This attaches to a receiving panel on the base of the bag while a strap round the headstock secures the front.

It’s so fast, easy and secure I’d choose it over the optional magnetic base even on a metal tank.

I’ve used the bag on three different bikes so far (KTM SM-T, Superduke and Honda XLV750R) and it’s fitted them all perfectly.

The small size makes it ideal for day trips or an easily transportable stash for valuables when touring.

What’s not? A waterproof cover costs extra. The small size gives it the effeminate appearance of a womens handbag especially when used with the supplied shoulder strap.

Not sure I’d trust expensive sunglasses in the specially designed front pouch.

Rating: 4/5
