Product review: Motrax Deluxe Bike Cover

1 of 1

Motrax Deluxe Bike Cover, £39.99 (£35.99 on MCN shop)
Time owned:
Three years

What’s good? Plenty of bike covers aren’t up to the job and become threadbare and prone to tears after just months in the rain and sun.

But this one still seems as tough as ever after protecting my bike through two of the harshest winters I can remember. Puddles form in the creases, which means the welded seams are still keeping out the water.

Covered vents near the mirrors allow moisture to escape from inside – the 23-year-old bike underneath corrodes faster when left in the lock-up at work.

There are holes at the wheels for a chain to pass through, heatproof sections at the exhaust and an under-bike strap so it won’t blow away.

Folds into an attached storage bag. Comes in small, medium and large sizes.

What’s not? The holes for ventilation and a chain were originally protected by plastic rings but these came off after days.

A shame because this is otherwise a very decent product. Later versions have protective fabric around the holes instead.

Rating: 4/5
