Tent review: Coleman Phad X3
Coleman Phad X3 tent from £135 (amazon.co.uk)
Time used: Five months
What’s good? Small tents tend to either be expensive, over-technical and developed for mountain types or heavy, disposable and aimed at festival goers.
- Save cash on camping equipment
The needs of motorcyclists don’t seem to figure that highly when it comes to tent design but the Phad X3 is probably as close to a purpose-built bikers tent as you’ll get.
Weighing just 3.5kg it won’t overload a topbox, it’s easy to erect and just big enough for two people, panniers and riding kit.
There are three large closable vents to resist stuffiness and the inner tent can be left attached for rapid erection (snigger).
Poles and pegs are quality alloy and the whole tent is well made. Reflective trim makes it easy to find in a crowded campsite.
What’s not? Good though the ventilation is, it can’t cope with wet bike kit and the porch is only big enough for storage, not to sit in.
