Product review: BMW bike cover
BMW bike cover, £64
Time used: 10 months
What’s good: Typically of BMW accessories, it’s well designed and made. BMW supplied it when I had a G650GS as a long-term test bike. Now that’s gone but I still like to use this on my own motorcycles.
It’s easily big enough to accommodate a middleweight with fairing and luggage rack. It’s got a draw-string, effective air-vents and holes for a cable lock through the front wheel. It’s tough but not so coarse it rubs your paint away. It folds into a bag which is an integral part of it, so won’t be lost.
It’s smart and good at keeping its contents dry. And it’s got a number plate window, if that’s your kind of thing.
What’s not: It gets a bit blowy in the wind. Even with the draw-string tight, the rear potion can blow right-off the bike. The holes are too small for a decent security chain to fit through. I have to use a bicycle lock.
If I was spending my own money, I’d struggle to justify £64 on this when I know around £40 will buy a cover just as good.
