Clymer Honda CBR600F manual, £23.45
Time tested: Two years
What’s good? I have seen many experienced and professional mechanics at work in my MCN working life. I am nothing like these people. For me to be able to work on my own 1998 Honda CBR600F I need something like the Clymer manual, which makes the average sorts of job easier to get done without losing an entire weekend trying to work out why the bellypan won’t unfasten. The illustrations and images are clear, the wording is simple to follow and for the relatively inexperienced that does allow some confidence. The exploded diagrams are good and they enable you to look at what the job is going to entail before you get started.
What’s not? None of the pictures are in colour so it can get a bit confusing to identify exactly what you are supposed to be looking for in some of the more complex and finicky areas where all the hoses and cables are black and the corresponding image is only in black and white.
