Product Review: Forcefield Base Layer shirt and pants

Forcefield Base Layer shirt and pants, £55 (shirt), £33 (pants)

Time tested: Six months/5500 miles

What’s good? The benefit of a decent baselayer is something that can barely be appreciated until you have tried it. I wore this base layer for a ride across Europe earlier this year which was 2500 miles in four days and it was brilliant at keeping me cool and fresh despite very high temperatures and was wonderfully comfortable. I’ve worn the set on track days and while riding all day in the heat of summer and it keeps you cool, stops your leathers sticking to you and remains comfortable. It hand washes in a hotel sink and was dry by morning after hanging it out the window.

What’s not? Nothing of any real note. It can snag and pull if something jagged comes in contact with it but that’s the nature of the thin material rather than a flaw. Cheaper alternatives are available but they don’t work as well as this set does in my experience.
