Product Review: Oxford First Time Mini Tankbag

Oxford First Time Mini Tankbag, £34.99

Time tested: One week/2300 miles

What’s good? The convenience of having the essentials right where I need them makes a long riding trip so much easier, which is where tankbags score highly in my book. But the bulk can make them awkward when riding and, especially, when refuelling. This small Oxford bag is small enough to not be noticeable while riding, easily moves out of the way for petrol stops and is big enough to hold a camera, tablet, small atlas and has a map pocket and waterproof storm hood, plus a headstock strap to add security to the magnetic mounts. Being able to pull toll tickets and credit cards out without removing gloves made toll booths a far speedier experience than fumbling in jacket pockets for them.

What’s not? It only mounts to metal tanks, and there’s not much distance between the magnets, so part of at least one is usually over the fuel filler cap, to which it won’t stick.
