Product Review: Ion Air Pro video camera
Ion Air Pro video camera £299
Tester: Michael Neeves
Time used: Two years
This is my second review for this lightweight ‘bullet cam’. I didn’t get on with it at first and only gave it two stars. Although it delivers brilliantly clear HD footage and is much easier to operate than a GoPro, with just a single switch to turn it on, there’s not many places it can go on a bike with the standard mounts, giving it limited use. But now I’ve removed the fixings and use ‘black tack’ instead, it’s given the camera a new lease of life. Black tack is a putty-type substance you can buy for a tenner from online hardware stores and sticks anything to anything like cement, but it’s reusable and doesn’t leave a mark afterwards. Now I can put the camera anywhere on the bike, or on me during road tests or racing, and get stunning results. It’s so easy I use it all the time and leave my GoPro at home.
What’s not? There’s no way of seeing how full the memory card when you’re out and about as you have to plug it into a computer.
