Product Review: XCP Rust Blocker (£14)
What’s good about XCP Rust Blocker?
I’m a huge fan of ACF50 anti-corrosion spray which I have used for many years to keep winter damage away from my bikes so I was asked to test this XCP Rust Blocker with that experience in mind. First off I cleaned the test bike thoroughly, dried it before applying everywhere except braking surfaces and tyres. I used the long, bendy nozzle to get into hard-to-reach areas and it went on easily. It leaves a coating on all parts and excess can be easily wiped off with a cloth. It’s pretty reasonably priced too and I still have most of a can left for future use. Not one whisper of the dreaded winter rust has appeared anywhere on the bike. An excellent performance.
And what’s not?
I don’t like the way the slightly tacky coating it leaves behind holds onto tiny pieces of grit which take some effort to clean off. It leaves a bit of a yellowish/brown residue when applied too thickly but this could easily be seen as an advantage as you can see where it’s too thick and wipe off. It took some scrubbing to remove burnt on residue from the exhaust downpipes but left no permanent marks.
