First test: Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact

Metzeler have a new Sportec M3 replacement, called the Sportec M5 Interact.

Senior Road Tester Michael Neeves went along to its launch in Portimao to check it out.

"The new Sportec M5 Interact is for sporty road riding, with the odd trackday thrown in for good measure.

"It will go on anything from a humble Honda Hornet to a fire-breathing BMW S1000RR.

"The old Sportec M3 was a superb do-anything tyre, one of the best, and the new M5 carries on nicely from where the M3 left off.

"Thanks to a new tread design, compound and variable-tension steel belts running around the circumference of the tyre, there¹s lots of feel and lots of grip wet or dry.

"It's a very friendly, confidence-inspiring, neutral- handling tyre. For regular trackday riders Metzler's faster steering, slightly grippier Racetec Interact K3 would be a better bet, but for swift road riders, this is the tyre for you.

"There's even a lean indicator on the rear tyre to measure the size of your chicken strips, which is a bit of fun too."
