MCN's top 3 used bikes of the week

MCN Deputy Editor Richard Newland has picked the top 3 bikes he would buy from MCN Bikes for Sale and why.

This week Rich fancies...

Honda VFR800F, £2200

"This looks like a super-clean standard bike with just 23,305 miles on the clock – which is barely run-in for the bullet-proof pre-VTEC VFR, which is widely considered to be the best version Honda ever built. I’ve already got an identical one to this, but even I’m tempted to buy another at this price. Fantastic do-it-all sports-tourer, and ridiculous value for money."

BMW R1100S, £2300

"If you need a daily ride, but don’t fancy the normal humdrum selection of CBRs – how about this quirky beast? That legendary R1100 air-cooled boxer engine jutting awkwardly to each side, shaft-drive to banish the woes of chain life, an off-beat Laser-boosted soundtrack, panniers and a wonky ‘mother still loves you’ face, it’s the perfect choice for those who like to stand apart from the crowd."

Ducati 1098S, £8995

"You can pick up the fabulous 1098S model for just under £7000 if you don’t mind a few miles on the clock, but check this one out. With just 3000 miles under its wheels, it’s about as close to a new one as you’re likely to find, and a huge amount of Italian exotica for the money. The 1098 isn’t likely to get any cheaper than they are right now, so look after it, and it’ll be worth no less in five years’ time."

Which of these would you buy? Let us know in the comments below.
