What the racers say about the British GP

Rossi says...

“I’m always very happy to go in England, at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. It is a race with so much history and the atmosphere is always very nice during this weekend. I really like the circuit, it’s very fast and technical. I hope I can have a strong race at Silverstone for all the fans!”

Lorenzo says...

Crutchlow says... “I was delighted when it was announced that the round was going back to Silverstone. It deserves MotoGP and it was the right place for it to go. It’s a fantastic track and I’m looking forward to going back there again, and to all the excellent fans who come out to support us, and to putting on a bit of a show.

British MotoGP – Silverstone – August 24-26, 2018

Some of the greatest moments in MotoGP history have been played out on the tarmac at Silverstone, and with the historic circuit having rescued the British MotoGP as the official venue for the next three years – there’s the promise of an unforgettable 2018 race.

As Silverstone celebrate their 70th anniversary in 2018, the MotoGP circus will roll back into the Northamptonshire circuit for a Bank Holiday weekend of top-flight race action on August 24-26, 2018. As well as being our one chance each year to support the Brits on home soil, it could also be our last chance to see Valentino Rossi race in the UK – adding to the historic sense of occasion. Could we see the final Rossi victory on British soil? Will Cal Crutchlow deliver yet another herculean race? Will Bradders paint the podium orange on the rapidly improving KTM?

“I think Silverstone is by far the best venue in the UK in terms of looking after MotoGP,” says Bradley Smith.

“Access, facilities, space, track and safety; there are so many things about it that are positives that I couldn’t ever really have seen it going anywhere else. We’ve seen a tremendous growth in the British Grand Prix since it went there, partly because of the success of British riders coming into play, but there’s something about Silverstone that’s a little bit better too.

“It’s a good place to ride a MotoGP bike, too. There’s lots of places where we ride that you never see the potential of a MotoGP bike, but Silverstone is one of the few places that actually allow you to open it up and really get going.”

And with huge grandstands, wildly partisan fanstands, and 14 giant screens around the circuit to enhance our viewing pleasure – it’s the place to be for race weekend. Silverstone have already confirmed Copse B and Copse C as the Valentino Rossi fanstands and Luffield as the Ducati stand – with more to be announced imminently. Book now – they fill up fast.

Make a weekend of the British MotoGP

The British MotoGP round is much more than just race day, too. The weekend kicks off on Thursday with the Day of Champions charity bash, and the excitement builds all the way through to Sunday for the gladiatorial on-track action. And don’t forget it’s a Bank Holiday, so you can take part in the post-race track walk, and even make a night of it at Silverstone’s fantastic Woodlands campsite before heading home on Monday to recover from a weekend of MotoGP action.

Pitches are available for tents, caravans and motorhomes with optional electric hook up. The site boasts top-notch facilities with quality toilets and showers with piping hot water – and a dedicated team keep the areas clean around the clock. Woodlands also offer a packed programme of entertainment from live music on big stages to a range of family activities including fun fair and activity areas; there’s always something for everyone.
