7 reasons you should ride this week...

We look at seven great events happening all over the country this week to make sure you get your motorcycle fix, whatever the weather.

1. Arenacross Round 6

Where: Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield
When: Saturday, Feb 11, from 7pm
Entry: From £15.40

Sheffield is the penultimate round of the Arenacross series, so the competition is really heating up. Cedric Soubeyras has a four-point lead but second, third, fourth and fifth are all within five points.

We say: If the Belfast rounds were anything to go by then the Sheffield meeting should be an action packed evening of thrills, spills and mudclogged grilles.

2. Norton night out

Where: Bourne Corn Exchange, Lincs
When: Thursday, Feb 9, from 7pm
Entry: £5

Bourne Motor Racing Club is hosting an evening talk with Norton CEO Stuart Garner. Garner will discuss the history of the brand, how he came to purchase it, set up the factory and how the current bikes came to be.

We say: As if listening to a passionate motorcyclist talk about their pursuits isn’t enough, there will also be a 200bhp Norton V4 to drool over.

3. Valentine Night Dinner

Where: Ace Café, London
When: Tuesday, February 14,from 6.30pm
Entry: Free (but you must book)

Colliding perfectly with the Sprite and Midget Owners Club night, the Ace offers you the perfect escape outside if the candlelight conversation isn’t quite what you were hoping for.

We say: Some of us see Valentine’s Night as a capitalist sham, while others are in love with our bikes. If you fit into either camp, this could be just the night for you.

4. Peterborough Advanced Motorcyclists rideout

Where: Days Inn A1/A605,Peterborough
When: Sunday, February 12,from 10am
Entry: Free

Peterborough and Cambridgeshire Advanced Motorcyclists is a voluntary riders group that is affiliated to the IAM. They regularly ride together both for fun and to help members increase their skills.

We say: No matter how long you’ve been riding, you never stop learning. If you’ve never tried it, riding with advanced riders can be a great way to up skill, especially if you’ve been off the bike all winter.

5. Cross Country Forest Challenge Enduro

Where: Ceri Forest, Shropshire
When: Sunday, Feb 12, from 10am
Entry: Free to spectate

Ceri Forest is Round Two of the 2016/2017 Winter Cross country series including the Ironman class, which races for four hours rather than the usual three.

We say: A standard enduro has timed stages but this a hare and hounds race, so it’s full-on racing straight from the gun. Once the riders are off, it’s whoever can cover the farthest distance that wins.

6. TT Pit Stop Sausage Cafe

Where: A5 (Watling St.), Pottersbury
When: Sunday 11, from 10am
Entry: Free

Recently voted the best café in Britain, the Super Sausage Café plays host to a regular bike meet that sees people on two wheels descend on their little patch of tarmac from all over the UK.

We say: Get down there early, check out the bikes lined up outside, eat a Bikers Full English then ride home for an afternoon snooze.

7. Leviathan MCC Rock Night

Where: Pirelli Social Club,Carlisle
When: Sunday, Feb 11, from 7.30pm
Entry: £5
Info: 07597 337437

Leviathan MCC’s Rock Night returns with live music from No Idea and the North East’s favourites the Sleeze Sisters. Tickets are available on the door and there’s even a raffle.

We say: Motorcycles and rock go together like fish and chips, like Batman and Robin or like Rum and Coke. Best not combine all three though, unless you want to look like Del Boy and Rodney.
