We're all guilty of daydreaming about our dream garage, should money be no option. But what if you only have £3000 to spend on a bike?
We spoke to three big bosses to see what they'd choose.
Jeff Turner, Marketing Manager, Yamaha Motors EU
“With £3000 in my pocket and a little searching I should be able to find a good, standard early model R1. Probably a 1999 or 2000 year model as the very first ones seem to be appreciating and are out of the price bracket. More than any other bike the R1changed the sportsbike game and set a new standard. The UK went mad for them!”

Martin Lambert, European PR Manager, Kawasaki Motors Europe
“I have several Kawasaki projects on the go so I’d dig around my contacts in Spain for an Ossa Yankee, a twin cylinder, two-stroke 500 from the mid to late 70s. Nigh on 60 horsepower and motocross-style power delivery, they are not common in the UK and I’d love to have one of these alongside my 500 H1 Kawasaki.”
Honda NX650 Dominator
Felipe Lopez Cordoba, Triumph Development Engineer/Test Rider
“I actually bought a Triumph Scrambler for similar money some time ago, but that aside, I would buy a Honda Dominator, but in very old condition. I only need the engine and frame. I can probably buy this for £500, or probably a little more. I’d spend the rest on changing everything and turning it into some kind of cool scrambler.”
