Keep riding through winter with these off-road bargains

Published: 30 October 2017

You might keep riding on the road through winter, but let's face it, it's hardly enjoyable. The biting cold makes journeys longer than 10 miles miserable unless you've got the best heated gear, and having to get rid of the salt that sticks to your bike every other day quickly becomes tiresome.

But there is a way you can keep riding through winter without staying on the road. That's right, take it onto the mucky stuff. We've scoured MCN Bikes for Sale to find some great off-road bargains that will enable you to have fun over winter.

TOP STORIES

Honda CRF250L £2,799

MCN says

“The Honda CRF250L is the perfect introduction to off-road riding - the power is soft and manageable and it will handle all but the roughest of terrain. They're pretty good on the road, too. If you're a bit on the tall side some handlebar risers might be a good idea.”

Kawasaki KLX250 £3,399

MCN says

“Competing directly with the CRF250L, the KLX250 is Kawasaki's entry-level trail bike. As such it's incredibly easy to ride, light and fairly comfortable. There's not a whole lot to separate the Honda and the Kawasaki, it just depends whether you prefer red or green.”

Yamaha XT660Z Tenere £3,899

MCN says

"The Tenere is more suited to those who are looking to cover distance and ride off-road. Fancy a multi-day off-road adventure? The Tenere is your bike. It's tall and comfortable, but it still performs well off-road."

KTM 690 Enduro R £4,750

MCN says

“KTM know a thing or two when it comes to building off-road bikes, so it will come as no surprise the 690 Enduro R is a serious off-road tool. It's not as hardcore as KTM's EXC and EXC-F models, but it can still handle anything thrown at it. If you think a 250 wouldn't be enough, the 690 may be for you.”

Sherco ST300 £3,895

MCN says

"And now for something different. If you prefer to get your kicks at a slower pace, trials riding and this Sherco ST300 may be for you. You don't even need to go to a trail, you could just lay out courses on your driveway or in your garden and practice your slow speed skills."
