Why it’s MCN’s pick:
Today's Bike of the Day carries one of the least appropriate names in motorcycling, the Honda FMX650 Funmoto. Why is it inappropriate? Because with this lackluster single cylinder from Honda there is little to no fun to be had…
Launched in 2005, the FMX was Honda’s miserable attempt to hop onto the supermoto bandwagon. Powered by a 37bhp air-cooled SOHC 644cc single that pre-dated the dinosaurs, it struggled to pull the skin off a rice pudding and was a nasty mishmash of bits from other bikes.
Unpopular and unloved, it was killed off (and not before time) in 2012, but in all honesty it was dead in the water the day it was released. If you are after an easy going urban commuter, it’s ok, but if you want a proper supermoto buy something like a KTM 690SM, Suzuki DR-Z400SM or even Yamaha’s XT660X.
“This Funmoto has covered 13,865 miles and is in good condition. A nice urban commuter it starts on the button and will offer hassle-free motoring.”
