Why it's MCN's pick
The sun has been shining this week and the prospect of summer tours is looming large for many so we thought we’d take a step back from the mind-bending performance of machines like the Ducati Panigale V4S and consider something with more of a long-distance bent.
Kawasaki’s Z1000SX certainly fits the bill, an all-rounder nestled between the naked Z1000 and the more track oriented ZX-10R. That said, the 140bhp inline four engine means you can really press on should you feel sporty, but creature comforts like a plusher seat, vibration reduction and bigger fairing make it a viable long-distance touring bike.
The engine hasn’t changed much since the 2014 model, but Kawasaki have made small styling tweaks over the years and added ABS.
