Bike of the Day: Norton Commando 961

Published: 09 April 2018

Why it’s MCN’s pick:

Today we have a movie star as Bike of the Day, well a bike that is similar to one that appeared in the background of a movie anyway…

TOP STORIES

James Bond fans will have spotted this, but in the background of the scene in Spectre when Daniel Craig is talking to gadgets genius ‘Q’ you can see a Norton Dominator. And not only that, the chap working on the bike in secret service-spec overalls is Norton boss Stuart Garner – as he likes to tweet and remind everyone when the scene is on TV…

Ok, this used Commando 961 may be lacking the twin machine guns that Bond’s came with, and isn't the expensive Dominator, but it’s still a great looking bike and the fact this example has actually covered over 8000-miles shows it must be a well built one…

Seller says:

“This Norton Commando 961 Cafe Racer has done 8583 miles and is still in immaculate condition. The Norton Commando 961’s chassis is neutral-feeling yet with enough sporting prowess to have fun and scratch with; light, slim and sharp-steering, plus, of course, aremed with good suspension and brakes. We have the original exhaust available, too.”
