Bike of the Day: Ducati 996

Published: 10 April 2018

Why it’s MCN’s pick:

Following on from yesterday’s movie themed bike of the day, we decided to stay on the red carpet and add a bit of glamour to today’s choice.

Ducati’s sportsbikes have appeared in a number of movies, some such as Speed 2: Cruise Control and the 2003 reboot of The Italian Job were pretty poor, but one movie scene was fairly epic and starred a Ducati 996.

In The Matrix Reloaded, Trinity memorably rescued the Keymaker from the baddies on a 996. Not the ideal choice of pillion machines it has to be said, but it did see Ducati make a special ‘Matrix’ replica model when the movie was released. However geeks were quick to point out that the rep was based around a 998, which wasn’t released when the film was shot, so it’s not actually technically quite correct…

Seller says:

“A Ducati 996 Bip in yellow with 20,000-miles on its clocks and Remus cans fitted with an upgraded UM222 chip and Marchesini wheels. A good service history and only 300 miles since it had its belts and oil changed. Only four owners from new and has all keys and books included in the sale.”
