Bike of the day: Buell 1125R
Why it’s MCN’s pick:
Describing a Buell 1125R as a collector’s item may be pushing it a little bit, but there is no denying the V-twin is an interesting, if somewhat flawed, sportsbike.
Buell’s first water-cooled sportsbike followed the same pattern as the firm’s air-cooled XB models by using the frame as a fuel tank and having a rim-mounted brake disc, but it was launched in 2007 at a point when the financial crisis was about to hit and when it did, Harley closed Buell’s doors to save cash. This caused the prices of the 1125R to crash, something they have struggled to recover from.
So why do you want one? Like most Buell models, the 1125R has its quirks, and getting someone prepared to work on them can be tricky, but the Rotax-built V-twin makes a claimed 146bhp and they do handle well. A bike for those who like something a bit different and aren’t planning on huge mileages – although, that said, this one has done over 22,000-miles!
Fancy a used V-twin?
