Stuck for something to do this bank holiday Monday? Well why not take a wander down to your local KTM dealer and check out the firm’s new 790 Duke, which has just landed in the UK.
Powered by KTM’s all-new LC8 799cc parallel twin motor, the 790 Duke punches out an impressive 105bhp with 64ftlb of torque. But far from just a powerful motor, the Duke weighs a featherweight 169kg and comes armed with a chassis that delivers serious handling. In fact, MCN’s Michael Neeves was so impressed by the Duke when we rode it at the bike’s launch, he reckoned it was ‘more fun than a Triumph Street Triple!’ Now that takes some doing…
The 790 Duke costs £8499, but you can get it on a PCP deal for just £99 a month for 36-months after a £1996 deposit. The final payment is £3862.19 and the interest 3.04% APR, which isn’t bad at all for a brand new model. But how does that stack up against the competition when you pay a similar deposit of £2000?

PCP deals on rival middleweights
Yamaha MT-07 - £64.29 a month, £3192 final payment, 8.9%APR
Updated for 2018 with revised suspension, the MT-07 is Europe’s best selling middleweight thanks to its budget price tag and wonderful 689cc parallel twin motor.
- Power: 73.8bhp Weight: 182kg (wet)
Triumph Street Triple R - £105.07 a month, £5101 final payment, 9.9% APR
Powered by the fantastic 765cc triple, the R version is Triumph’s middle-of-the-road Street Triple model and boasts a comprehensive electronics package as well as Showa suspension and Brembo brakes. It’s pricey, but well worth it!
- Power: 116.4bhp Weight: 166kg (dry)
Kawasaki Z650 - £57.45 a month, £3135 final payment, 5.9% APR
The Z650’s parallel twin is a lovely motor, but with just 67bhp it is a little lacking in power when compared to its more spirited rivals. That said, a price tag of just £6199 and a PCP plan of £57.45 a month makes it very tempting…
- Power: 67bhp Weight: 187kg (wet)
Ducati Monster 797 - £89.53 a month, £3909 final payment, 6.6% APR
The 797 uses Ducati’s air-cooled 803cc V-twin engine and that gives is a lovely bit of spirit and soul. While not the fastest bike out there, the 797 does handle well and has a bit of the old-school Monster charm about it
- Power: 71bhp Weight: 175kg (dry)
