Today's bike of the day is the Yamaha YBR125. Not the most stylish machine around but great value for money and most practical as a city commuter.
MCN first rode the YBR when it was launched in 2005 and said: "Gentle, easy going and practical, it'll see you through your test.
"It’s very light and boasts surprisingly good handling. Nothing too mad: it’s just forgiving and easy to practice your cornering on.
"The suspension is basic but effective and the brakes are good - especially at the front. It even sounds pretty fruity. There’s also kick, as well as electric, start."
With a 124cc air-cooled four stroke engine, producing 10bhp, riding through the city is a breeze. There's a top speed of around 70mph and cruising at 55mph is still very comfortable.
One thing to be aware of with a Yamaha YBR125 is a potentially dodgy indicator wire but owners of YBR125’s seem happy with the bike especially when it’s so cheap to buy and run - with an exceptional fuel consumption of 90mpg.
Parts for it if something goes wrong (which rarely happens) are also inexpensive to purchase and it’s easy to work on yourself.
