When the Hayabusa, or GSX1300R, was launched in 1998, it smashed its rivals out of the water and became the fastest production bike in the world - pipping the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird for top spot, which previously held the title from the Kawasaki ZZR1100.
Producing 11bhp more than the Honda and weighing 8kg less, the bike spawned a Japanese arms race to produce the ever-faster hyperbikes, capable of ripping across continents at warp speed without breaking a sweat. The battle to be the fastest was eventually curtailed by a 'gentlemen's agreement' that limited machines to 186mph, through fears of import bans.

Fast forward the best part of 20 years and the Hayabusa recipe remains largely unchanged, with massive dollops of power sandwiched with mountains of comfort - making it the perfect used buy for those wanting to go long distance at high speed.
