Steve Hislop’s mother has expressed her thanks to all his fans for their support after the death of her son in a helicopter crash on July 30.

In an open letter Margaret Hislop said, on behalf of Hizzy’s family, that they had been overwhelmed by the kindness shown.

” We would like to extend our most grateful thanks for the numerous cards, flowers, letters and messages of support that we have received since Steve’s tragic accident, ” she said. ” We have been truly touched by the great affection in which he was held by friends, fans and fellow competitors alike and this kindness has been simply overwhelming, as indicated by the volume of people that were present at the funeral.

” Not only will he be remembered by us as a dear son, loving partner and dedicated father but as an inspiration to thousands who were touched by his presence. We will always be so proud of him. ”

It was also announced that following the appearance of Hizzy’s Rotary Norton in Garage One at Oulton Park for the ninth round of the British Superbike championship last weekend, the collection bucket that was placed with the bike raised a total of £1239.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the fun should send it to: Steve Hislop Memorial Fund, c/o Cartersport, PO Box 150, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL6 3WZ.
