McCarthy dies in Oz

Double British Supersport championship runner up Kirk McCarthy died in hospital on Sunday night (August 15) after a crash at the final Australian supersport championship round.

He was runner up in the UK in 2000 and 2001, riding for Castrol Honda.

McCarthy won the 1995 Australian superbike title and did a season in the world 500 championship in 1997 on a factory Yamaha YZR500.
