MRO rookie wins award

Richard Keohane has been awarded the Most promising Newcomers Award at the MRO/Bemsee Awards Dinner, after winning his class with four rounds remaining in his first year of racing.

Keohane won 28 of the 32 races he competed in, having never ridden on a race track before 2004. Having dominated the Rookie 400 class, he also acquired a Honda CBR600RR for the final round of the season, and took three second places and one fourth, which bodes well for his 600cc season in 2005.

He plans to enter every round of the BMRC Championship in 2005, plus some MRO rounds and British Supersport Rounds, before entering the full Supersport Class throughout 2006.

"This year has been fantastic. I’m a carpenter by trade and this is a lot more exciting, " said Keohane. "Until now I’d done nothing apart from ride on the roads. My aim for 2005 is to win, and my eventual goal is to secure myself a competitive ride within a British Supersport team."

Sponsorship is needed for the 2005 season, so if you are able to help, contact carlyrathmell@yahoo.co.uk.
