Rutter on Oulton pole

Honda rider MIchael Rutter is on pole for Sunday’s Oulton Park British Superbike round – and the wet-weather expert may prove hard to overtake – there’s a forecast for rain at Oulton on Sunday.

Rutter had been running eighth fastest for much of qualifying on Saturday, but he made a late bid with a 1:37.05 lap to claim his fourth pole position of this year’s championship in the final minute of the session.

Dean Thomas (Ducati) is second on the grid with championship leader John Reynolds (Suzuki) third.

The rest of the first 10 on the grid are: 4. Emmett (Ducati) 5. Kagayama (Suzuki) 6. Plater (Yamaha) 7. Smart (Kawasaki) 8. Richards (Kawasaki) 9. Kiyonari (Honda) 10. Haydon (Yamaha).

Rutter starts Sunday’s races 33 points behind Reynolds with just Donington to go after Oulton.
