See supermoto finale

1 of 1

The big guns of British Supermoto head for the flat-lands of the Kent coast this Sunday to conclude an eight-part battle for British Championship supremacy.

Mathematically, any one of five riders could seal the title in the large-capacity open class but series leader Davy Tougher is going to have to suffer the weekend from hell to concede an almighty 36 point lead. Still, that’s racing and the large lady won’t be singing until the final race of the day. This is a battle between the exquisite hand built nature of Tougher’s Italian TM, the KTM factory duo of Ady Smith and Matt Winstanley, Husqvarna’s golden-boy Christian Iddon and Husaberg’s Andy Mitchell. Stand well back.

With the 450 class already decided by the obscenely talented Matt Winstanley the rest of the attention turns to the KTM Junior Cup. Can Cumbria’s 16 year-old Chris Hodgson win his first ever British title? Will cruel luck hand victory to one of his teenage adversaries? Sunday will decide.

Lydd is just south of Ashford in Kent between Hythe and Hastings. Take junction 10 off the M20. Action starts at 10am and runs through to approximately 5.30. Celebrations (and commiserations) take place in Lydd’s newly finished club house on Sunday evening. Admission costs £10 for adults, a fiver for oaps and students and kids under 16 go free – as long as they’ve got an adult in tow.
