Belgian star to try TT

An increase in the number of foreign riders racing at the Isle of Man TT has continued, with a Belgian road racer the latest European star to sign up.

Twenty-eight year old Michael Weynand has gained experience in the European Superstock Championship and World Endurance Championship. In 2005 he partners Stefen Mertens in WEC. He is also one of the leading competitors on the European Pure Road Racing scene, with wins at Oostend and podiums at Mettet.

“For a long time it has been an ambition for me to take part in the Isle of Man TT races. I enjoy the road races in Belgium at places like Mettet and I have been very successful there, so hopefully I will be able to transfer some of that form to the TT,” said Weynand. “I realise that it is going to be a totally different type of event, but I am looking forward to the challenge of learning the circuit and I can’t wait for June.”
