TT rider in record book

TT rider Maria Costello will receive her official Guiness World Record Certificate as the fastest woman around the Isle of Man TT course on Saturday March 19.

Costello recorded a spead of 114.73mph around the 37 and 3/4 mile course at the 2004 TT, riding a Suzuki GSX-R750 K2 in the Production 1000 class. To celebrate the record, an evening at Fitness First in Northampton has been organised, with motorcycle commentator Martin Bennet hosting. Costello will be chatting about her ahcievements, her plans for 2005 and auctioning off signed kit. You can also try the new TT Superbikes game, due for release in April, in exchange for a small donation to charity Riders for Health, and a special guest will be on hand to present Maria with her certificate.

“I’m really looking forward to the night and receiving my Guiness World Record. I love the TT and have many great memories. It will also be nice to meet and chat with my fans that have been so supportive. I’m confident that I can go back to the TT and beat my record and I’m sure we’ll have another party to celebrate,” said Costello.
