Silverstone has been named the Bennetts British Superbike championship fans’ favourite circuit of 2005.

The Northamptonshire circuit took top honours for its “good viewing” opportunities and “atmosphere”.

Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, said: “We are delighted and are looking forward to welcoming fans for another thrilling day’s racing next year.”

In other categories of the fans’ survey, Michael Rutter was named Rider of the Year after finishing third in the Championship, while Airwaves Ducati rider Leon Haslam was named as the most improved rider. Silverstone was also voted as the fans’ favourite circuit for both all-round racing action and atmosphere. Former Rizla Suzuki rider John Reynolds, who has recently announced his retirement, and enjoyed a long and highly successful career that included three British Superbike Championship titles, received the most votes as the rider the fans would most like to ride pillion with.

John confirmed his status as the fans’ favourite rider when he topped the poll of which rider they would like to invite around for dinner, and came a close second in the Rider of the Year accolade.
