Harris joins HM Plant

Karl Harris has signed for the HM Plant Honda Racing British Superbike team in 2006. The 25-year-old Yorkshireman last rode for the team in 2004, winning the British Supersport class.

He’ll join current rider Ryuichi Kyonari in the squad. Harris knows the team well, having spent four season racing for them, before a one-year stint in 2005 for the Honda Racing team in British Superbikes. He finished seventh overall in the series with season best results of two third positions back in May, 2005.

Harris replaces ’05 rider Michael Rutter. You can read how Rutter feels about it in MCN, October 12, out now.

Kiyonari will again ride for the team, having won the Suzuki 8-hour in Japan and 12 races in british Superbikes to claim the runner-up championship spot.

“There isn’t a rider in the championship who would have turned down this opportunity,” said Harris. “Riding the HRC-backed CBR1000RR Fireblade is the pinnacle of my career so far and I am determined to succeed.”
