The first challenge was in the trials arena with two laps of the six-section course allowed. As the trials specialists such as Steve Colley and Maria Conway flourished the road racers faced a toguher struggle.

Next was the ‘Moto pentathalon’ which saw quad bikes, sidecar trails, dirt excavators, mini bikes and mountain bikes all part of the challenge along with sprinting between maches in full off-road kit. .

The final event on the first day was the Supermoto race, with Iddon and Ady Smith among the favourites. However this eventually had to be replaced due to technical problems, and so a Superpole event was held. By the end of the first day Andy carlile was leading Ultimate Biker in an overall position of 19th place.

Day two saw a 15-minute motocross race dominated by Bill Mackenzie and the other dirt specialists, followed by the two road-race events. This was the favourite event for the Ultimate Biker competitors, and saw Andy Carlile claim 12th and 11th in the two races to clinch the Dunlop Ultimate Biker victory. Despite never holding an ACU licence, all three of the Ultimate Biker trio scalped some big names on Tarmac, with Carl Nash taking 14th and 15th, and Steve Reynolds finishing 17th and 18th from the 25 strong field.

Meanwhile Christian Iddon had begun the day trailing off-roader Wayne Braybrooke by a narrow margin, but good results in the motocross and road events saw him take the lead and eventually win the competition with 112 points. Billy Mackensie took second with 106, and Ady Smith was third with 102. Andy Carlile finished 18th overall with 54 points.
