Dakar: Stage 13

Giovani Sala took the win on stage 13 of the Dakar Rally, beating Cyril Despres by more than three minutes to win the day.

The win puts Sala up to third in the overall rankings behind Marc Coma, fourth on the stage, and Despres.

Highest non-KTM rider was David Fretigne on his Yamaha WR450F in seventh place. This puts the French rider up to 15th overall.

The second death of the year occurred early on in the stage with one of the car drivers hitting a small child after only 25km. The child crossed the road in front of the car. He was immediately airlifted to the medical facilities but died on route.
