Positive minibike action

A two-day conference designed to encourage a positive approach to dealing with minimoto and minibike riders has been hailed as a success by the ACU, who organised the event.

Over 85 delegates from local authorites and police forces across the country joined representatives from the Forestry Commisiion, motor insurance experts and an official from the Health and Safety Executive to be shown that a change of approach when dealing with the issue of illicit motor activity will bring massive benefits.

Authorities are spending more in trying to tackle the problem, yet seeing nuisance complaints increase, and to demonstrate the different approach, delegates visited Pineham motocross track to watch young riders under instruction from PC Ron Kirkland from the Thames Valley Police Motorcycle Initiative. They also went to Santa Pod Raceway to watch riders on a Mini Bike Recreation track.

The second day of the conference also saw three sets oof Best practice Guideliness were published.
