Chris Walker will ride for Rizla Suzuki at the Race of the Year at Mallory Park on October 14 and 15, 2006, with the aim of securing a British Superbike ride for 2007.

Finishing ninth in the 2006 WSB championship, with one win to his name, the 34-year-old wants to return to the UK to win the British Superbike championship. Previously Walker has finished runner-up in the national series four times, including with Suzuki in 2000. He’ll take part in a private test on Friday October 13, alongside new Rizla Suzuki rider Cal Crutchlow.

“It has been six years since I last raced at Mallory and there is at least one new chicane,” said Walker. “I need to get used to a new bike, new team and Dunlop tyres, and I’ll be giving it my all on Sunday. In all honesty though, the best result I can achieve from this weekend is to gel with the Rizla Suzuki team and secure a seat for 2007, that’s my real target.”

“I have unfinished business in BSB and want more than anything to win the chanmpionship with Suzuki.

New team manager Simon Buckmaster has said that if Walker works well with the team at Mallory Park, there is a strong possibility he’ll line up alongside Crutchlow in 2007.
