Everts takes 100th win

Stefan Everts took both race wins at the penultimate round of the 2006 championship at Lierop, taking his historic 100th career win, and 13th victory this season from 14th rounds.

The Belgian rider took pole position, and followed up with two trouble-free races, passing Josh Coppins by the fourth tunr of the first race before pulling away by 41 seconds, and then repeating his performance in the second. Copipins took two second places, with Steve Ramon reaching the podium in race one, while Jonathan Barragan took third in race two.

Britain’s James Noble took 19th in both races, with Mark Jones finishing in 11th in race two. Everts has already sealed up the title race in his final season of competitive MX Grand Prix.

Antonio Cairoli took the first MX1 race from Tyla Rattray and Christophe Pourcel. Britian’s Tommy Searle took fourth, with Cal Nunn ninth. The second race saw Pourcel win from Rattray and Cairoli. Nunn took fifth with Searle seventh, Tom Church 19th and Wayne Smith 20th.

In the MX2 championship, Christophe Pourcel heads the championship from Antonio Cairoli by 28 points, with 50 points left at the final round.
