Basketball legend Michael Jordan celebrated the first win for his Jordan Motorsports Suzuki team in style at Barber Motorsports Park on Sunday.

His rider, Aaron Yates, took his 2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000 to victory in the AMA Superstock race while team-mate Jake Holden, who took his first career superstock podium with a second place.

Yates led the 17-lap event flag-to-flag with lap times averaging 1:26.769, and speeds averaging 95.4 mph to become the only rider to win back-to-back races at the circuit near Birmingham, Alabama.

“I am so proud of Aaron and Jake,” said team owner Michael Jordan.  “We really need to thank American Suzuki for building an incredible stock motorcycle, as well as team sponsors Dunlop Tires, Gatorade, Hanes, Yoshimura, Bazzaz and Gemini Technology.

“I know how hard the riders and everyone involved with the team works and I’m glad that effort has paid off with what I’m sure will be the first of many wins.”

NBA star Michael Jordan formed Michael Jordan Motorsports in 2004 as a result of his passion for motorcycle racing, his mission being to bring a new level of excellence and style to the motorcycle racing industry.
