Classic Endurance

Phase One Endurance aren’t just chasing the World Endurance title this year.

The West Country-based team are also preparing a 1978 Peckett & McNab Kawasaki in conjunction with Kevin and Chris Jones at C&K Contracts for the Classci Bol d’Or at Magny Cours on April 14 and15, 2007.

The bike was acquired in 2006 after languishing in the bowels of Spondon engineering workshop in Derbyshire for several years.

The team have been burning the midnight oil and the machine should be ready to run in mid-February.

The bike is frame number 15, originally built for Dennis McMillan for the TT and TTF1 events that year and was thought to have been raced in the 1978 Brands Hatch 1000kms race. This was competing against the P&M ‘factory’ bike of Bernie Toleman (now the Jentin Racing team boss!) and John Cowie.

The ‘factory’ bike, (frame17) ridden by Toleman and Cowie finished fourth at Le Mans and third at Spa.

This year’s Classic Bol attracted 95 applicants for entries with 65 accepted.
