MCN backed Mick Extance is out of the Dakar Rally after his bike lost power 80KMs from the finish line of stage six.

Stage six is the longest in the Dakar and was exceptionally muddy and wet. At the moment it is thought that the mud drying on the bike caused the engine to overheat.

Plucky Brit Extance, who was competing in his sixth Dakar, spent the night in desert before being picked up by the Broom Car This morning.

Roger Harvey the Honda Off-Road Manager said, “We are obviously gutted for Mick but glad he is returning in one piece and mo doubt will be back next year.”
