The British Supercross Championship kicks off in Sheffield on November 3, 2007 but already there’s big names signing up to ride.

British GP winner and World MX2 Grand Prix star Tommy Searle heads the line-up and looks set to continue his fierce rivalry with recently crowned British champion Mike Brown, the American star on the CAS Honda team.

US KTM factory rider Jeff Alessi and fellow American Jason Thomas on a Honda have their sights set on the top step of the podium at Sheffield, as do six-time Canadian Motocross champ Jean Sebastien Roy (JSR) and former British Supercross champ Colton Facciotti.

British-based Dixon Yamaha will field former British Motocross and Supercross Champ Carl Nunn has also been confirmed for Sheffield.

Promoters Future West Promotions and the ACU have teamed up to present a four round Supercross Series across the UK over the winter months.

The four round series will kick off on November 3, 2007 at the Hallam FM Arena in Sheffield. Rounds two and three will take place at the newly-built Arena at ACC Liverpool, part of the stunning King’s Waterfront Complex which opens for business in January 2008.

The FWSX event will be one of the first events to take place at the Arena on the 25th and 26th January.

The final round of the SX series will take place at the freshly renovated Wembley Arena on March 1, 2007.

Future West’s John Hellam said:  “This year will be the start real stability for Supercross in Britain. We have entered into an exclusive long-term agreement with the ACU.

The joint venture started last year when the ACU sanctioned the Sheffield race and ACU staff Roy Humphrey and Dave Williams worked closely with Future West.
Hellam said: “The event ran extremely smooth and developed a good working relationship for the future.

“This year we feel that we have three of the best venues in the country with ample space between each date to avoid over-saturation.

“You can expect to see the best Supercross riders from all over the world racing alongside the UK riders. Our long term commitment to youth and amateur riders will continue as they are key to a successful future.”

Last year saw record entries for Sheffield with over 300 riders.

Sheffield tickets are now available through the Hallam FM Arena box office on 0114 256 5656.
